Groundhog Day resolutions for 2011

This is my first serious blog post, and here are my Groundhog Day resolutions for the year of 2011. The idea of Groundhog Day resolution comes from David Seah, whom I first read about for his Printable CEO series.

GHD Resolution in a nutshell is, you make your new year resolutions on Groundhog Day (Feb 2) and review your progress on the nth day of nth month till next year:

Date Holiday Description
1/1 New Year’s Day Start thinking about resolutions
2/2 Groundhog Day Make your resolutions. Assemble your peer group.
3/3 March 3 Review w/ group.
4/4 April 4 Review w/ group.
5/5 Cinco de Mayo Review w/ group. Think celebratory, spring-like thoughts!
6/6 June 6 Mid-Year Review w/ group. Optional break for summer.
7/7 Tanabata Star Festival Private Review. Make Wishes. Rededicate.
8/8 Chinese Father’s Day Private Review. Plan for future completion.
9/9 September 9 Review w/ group. Three months left.
10/10 October 10 Review w/ group. Two months left.
11/11 Veteran’s Day Review w/ group. A Day to be Grateful.
12/12 December 12 End-of-year Review. Break for Holiday Madness.

Well, in the year of 2011, I want to improve myself on:

  • Health
    Stretch daily
Weekly exercise of swimming, soccer or sports of other kind
    [Bonus Point] Learn to cook

  • Productivity
Read Getting Things Done, review and refine my working and personal workflows
    Improve reading speed

  • Financial Literacy
    Read books on this subject

  • Being Social & (trying to be) Friendly
Host this blog on my own domain name – not on WordPress.com
Keep connections with friends on social networks
Follow Scott Hanselman on his blog on podcasts

Alright, I’ll be pretty proud of myself if I can achieve all of them (the cooking one is really hard…) by this time in 2012. 🙂 Let’s get started!

If anyone is reading this, what are your new year resolutions?

[Update Jan 2012]
*This WordPress.com-hosted blog is temporary and I’m planning to host it on my domain name (www.dapengli.com), hopefully in the near future.
You are reading on my self-hosted WordPress.
