Dapeng Li

Hungry, foolish and passionate – yet another software developer.

Start of a New Adventure

Jan 24, 2014 was my last day working at Northern Lights Technology Development (NLTD), I will start working for a British company in Gibraltar sometime in February.

Doing OK

Many people are surprised by my move, the first reactions are “Why? You are doing quite fine!”

I was one of the first group of employees when NLTD started six and half years ago (now NLTD have almost 200 employees); I had a great boss, friendly and professional colleagues, and exciting projects; I was the lead of a team of 16 people, working on a project we were proud of. So I guess I was doing OK.

But right now, I don’t feel like settling down, getting married, have a kid, and live happily after. It’s not that I don’t want them, I have best wishes for people who have already settled down, and I’m sure I will want that life badly; they are just not appealing to me now.

I’m very grateful of the opportunity, guidance, trust and encouragement that NLTD had given me. That was six and half wonderful years and an experience I will always remember.

Of course, I have met people and things I like, I don’t like; things I want to and can change, things I want to but cannot change. It’s not particular to NLTD, it’s life.

From one of my favorite quote: I hope we can have the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. My friend.

Wish NLTD and my friends there all the best!

New Adventure

My next job will be a software developer for a British company located in Gibraltar, I will be working on web applications and internal systems, using Ruby, Rails, JavaScript and others.

This new position offers me two things I’m very interested in:

  1. The opportunity to work with open source languages, frameworks and libraries; especially Ruby and Rails.

  2. The opportunity to work overseas, and see other parts of the world and experience other cultures.

I don’t know what to expect, it will be a new environment, new work and new colleagues, but I think I’m going to like it.

Keep In Touch

Dear friends, I wish we can keep in touch in the future.

I will miss you, till we meet again.
